Part II-IV: Ally Development (Learning Objective)

After attending and participating in Safe Zone Training Part II, Allies will be able to:

1. Identify on-campus resources for LGBTQ students.
2. Identify local Charlotte/Mecklenburg resources for LGBTQ students.
3. Identify national and web-based resources for LGTBQ students.

After attending and participating in Safe Zone Training Part III, Allies will be able to:

1. Examine personal reasons for becoming a Safe Zone Ally.
2. Define what an “Ally” is and determine what the role of an Ally is.
3. Explain common experiences of the LGBTQ population.
4. Identify homophobia and ways to fight it at UNC-Charlotte.
5. Refer students to appropriate resources.

After attending and participating in Safe Zone Training Part IV, Allies will be able to:

1. Investigate their risks and benefits associated with being a Safe Zone Ally.
2. Recognize ways to further their own development as Allies.
3. Commit to the Safe Zone Program with full understanding of values and expectations.
